had the same problem, could not get the vehicle into reverse....check your fuse...............had the same problem and after calling for a tow truck.....a mehanic informed me to check as a fuse was blown.....he was right.....replaced the fuse which solved the problem

Fuse sounds like a good idea. I had a similar problem with my Ford van and it was the mechanical brake switch that activates the lockout solenoid for the transmission. In my case I could only move the lever to neutral with the key turned but not so far as to light up the dash lights because when it powered everything up it also powered up the safety solenoid. The mechanic figured it out because the switch also controls the safety on the cruise control and my cruise control was not working.

Default adjusted

turned that little plastic wheel w/ the fine wire through it and lined the park back to the needle on the dash and seem's to have helped, pushed it out of alignment a little bit.
