hi - borrowed my sons 2002 f150 pickup. I tried to shift it from parked to reverse (no excessive force!) and lever just let go completely and is just dangling in the steering column. Engine starts fine but I cannot remove the key. advice please???

same thing happened to my friends expedition, ended up bein a bolt that fell out from under the steering column which connected to the shifter, put it back in and worked fine since. would check the floor in the truck and see if ya can find a small bolt cause thats prob it if ya do
