Default Service engine soon light

N my way home from work I noticed my service engine light came on. It seemed to be running fine. I don't know where to start. Is this something I can get read? 03 5.4 fx4 crew

Most likely just an o2sensor kicked a code for a split second. It's common when the weather gets colder. Nothing to worry about

It was 8 degrees out on my way to work haha I hate this weather. How do I reset it. Pull the neg from the battery?

You can do that or have an autoparts store clear it for you.

If you have an Autozone in your area, they will put the code reader on it for free and tell you what it is. Lots of stuff will sometimes cause it to go on that is not a problem like the other guys have said previously.

Many times is a vacuum leak, which can be pesky to track down, but important to tend to. I just replaced the PCV hose on my 4.2 just to kill that light (p0171, 0191 codes for that one).

I do have a pesky exhaust leak.I'll get the code read tomorrow and check back!
