’99 F150 XLT split bench seat. The back rest has now decided not to lock. Not sure what happened and looking for advice on how to fix this problem.

You have to alternate between the lever on the side of the seat and the latch on the back. That's what I do anyway, -it resets the locking mechanism.

 

Was able to "fix" the seat back. Slid the seat all the way forward, pushed the seat back as far reclined as it would go, it clicked and locked. Pulled the recline lever to put the seat back upright. The seat now works as designed.

Hahaha, yea , that's how they are sometimes. You have to play with it a bit to get it working again. I didn't have to go through all that, just worked the lever on the side like I said, then play with the release on the back. It occurs every once awhile. At least you know what it takes now lol....glad you worked it out.
