Question ?'s about an 01 f150

alright well first off im new to the site... dont own a ford YET. i have a 99 2wd chevy truck, 5.3l. absolutely love my chevy but i need a 4 wheel drive. my dad talked to me about doing a straight trade with me for his truck, its an 01 f150 extended cab 4 wheel drive with 138,000 miles. well my question is, when you hit the gas i his truck the truck will kind of vibrate like somthing is loose. i dont know much on fords but what could it be? i dont think its a u-joint because there is no squeeking and you realy dont have to be movin very much to feel it, only does it when taking off and not once you get over around 15-20mph give or take a few. anyone got an ideas? thanks alot.

It could be an un-balanced drive shaft. Although I have never had that problem with my 99 F150 4X4, I did have to have the drive shaft re-balanced on my 88 Ranger. Also, verify the drive shaft is clean, mudd buildup will throw it out of balance.

is the truck lifted? does it have a two piece driveshaft? sounds like a bad carrier bearing or u joints. the u joints wont necessarely squeak all the time when they are going bad. you need to reach under the truck and shake the drive shaft at the pinion and at the output shaft of the transfer case. and on extreme cases the leaf springs may be toast and allowing the axle to wrap far enough to throw the pinion angle way outta whack
