Default rusted panel

yesterday while underneath the truck, found this rusted panel sitting between the truck bed and drive shaft. is this panel used to shield the underside of the bed for protection? Thanks

Yea, there's a few screwed to the underside. Probably right with your assumption. They are held on with 8mm hex head self tapping threads.
