Default Running sluggish, check engine light

After reading so many posts about other trucks running sluggish on inclines and acceleration which is real similar to what my truck is doing. It's usually bad between 40 and 60 mph. My check engine light will also flash when it runs like this. Sometimes it flashes and other times it will stay on for a day or two. So after reading, searching, and more reading and seeing all the possible problems I decided to go to autozone to get codes read. The first zone I went to said that someone stole their reader. I went to another one and they told me they don't do that anymore.
Is their any other places that will read codes or would I be better off buying my own and doing it myself?

Ken

Try any of the other local parts stores, my local Advanced Auto Parts reads codes also. With a flashing light and the speed range you have a misfire code.

Get this, Pep Boys wanted $90 to check codes and tell me what they were. Ended up going to Aamco for a free reading. I got a p0303 cyl 3 misfire.

Default I guess I got out of this one easy

I replaced the plug wires and now it runs like a champ. I did the plugs and replaced the fuel filter not too long ago.

a flashing mil indicates that there is a type a misfire which means that it could cause cat meltdown. Check to see if you can get the codes read and see if it shows up with a certain cylinder. Once you find out the code let me know.

Hello

when I went to work this morning I notice my truck was running sluggish, it would also shake a bit while driving. As I accelerated the exhaust would often make a popping sound.

when I have the truck in neutral it seemed to idle at a lower RPM then normal also and it does have a check engine light on it. I will see if anyone checks engine lights for free in my area ( sacramento CA ).

I am hoping it is only the plugs but anyone have any other idea's ?

Thank You
Bryan

I don't know where you live but it was probably because it was to hot for them to go outside. Where I live they still read codes all day long at AotuZone.
