Default RPM's seem high

I just bought a 2000 F-150 7700 XLT from a friend of mine. He just had the engine and tranny rebuilt. Ever since the the new tranny went in, the RPM's seem high. For instance, i'll be cruising on the highway doing 65 MPH @ 2000 RPM. Is this normal? The shift points seem to be a bit high as well. Truck is a 5.4L w/ 4r100 tranny, 3.75 limited slip rear end and stock tires.
