Rough Rider
What are the things to I have to do to get my 01 F150 2x4 to ride smoother. I know it's a truck but it seems to ride a bit rougher than other trucks. New shocks and tires. Is replacing cab bushings an option? I might have a bent rim but that should just cause vibration. I know air bags are good but not an option for me due to cost.
I have new tires and shocks. Running 32 psi has helped. I'm thinking a bent rim is affecting how my truck takes bumps some how. Gong to switch it out with my spare and see what happens. Thanks for the feed back.
tell us what you have for a truck and tires? A bent wheel would cause a vibration or a pull (if you knocked the alignment out). Could it be wore out shock bushings? "rides rough" is the ride bumping and clunking or just riding stiff??

I have a 01 F150 4.6 2x4. I was running 255/70 16 and bought some cheep 235/70 16s, Goodyear, to see if it would ride better. Well there was no change. Still a vibration, stiil bumping every crack in the road. The ride is not really stiff, it's bumping and clunking. I mean I can hit a bump and my dash and cab with freaking shutter. The new shocks came with new bushings unless there's some other ones I don't know of I can change out. Maybe it just is a ruff ridding truck. Thanks for the reply Thunder.
I have a 7700 F150 and both of them ride very well. It seams like maybe a cab mount loosened off/broke (as you say the dash has a shudder?) Cab mount would be one big clunk/thump not a bunch of them.
1)Take it to an alignment shop and ask for an alignment. If all is good in the frontend, they will align it win win situation but if there is something worn/loose then they will give an estimate to fix it. You then put the part in yourself and then get it aligned. This saves you the part and labor to istall the part.
my 2003 had a shake that was very intermitent, couldn't figure it out at all. Different speeds (no tire issue then). it would start very subtle and then get worse and when slowing down without the brakes it got really bad. Thought a u-joint, nope all good there too. Got the frontend checked out, nope all good there too. Tranny fluid perfect. I have yet to change the fuel filter maybe staving for gas,......
but sure shakes the truck like a wheel coming loose or a tierod flopping around.
Hasn't done it in a while now, like 2 months, how do you fix something like that??????
But back to your issue, I don't know either just trying to help ya out is all
