I am basically wanting to do the same thing as you did. Just want it strong again, its a truck, and wont stay in great shape. Dumb question, but do my doors have to come off? Just wondering if the 3rd door will need to come off, as well as the front 2 doors when I get time to try fixing this.

I know I didn't have much room with the doors on. You may be able to do it, but they aren't that bad to remove. I had to buy a big (forget the size) Torx bit to remove the spring loaded thing. Had my wife undo the bolts while I held the door.
Other than that, it's simply pop off the panels, unhook all of the wireing, and fish the wire harness out of the door.

If you do, take some pictures before you start unplugging and pulling wires. It will be a BIG help in putting it back together.
Without this picture, I would have been lost.

It's me again, Chinaclipper. Do you remember the torx bit size, and do I need any special instructions for door removal?? I have looked all over for instructions, and can't find any.
And what again exactly is that "Spring loaded thing"?
Thanks!

We put patch panels on my buddies Chevy. You have to punch holes around the edges of the new panel and plug weld it on, with an occasional tach weld on the edge. Then grind the seam smooth. Then bondo over the seams to make it smoother...

Did you half to take the doors off or can you work around them? When you welded the new panels on did you weld at the same place where the old welds were or weld at new places?
