Default Rim/Tire Width

When I get my 35x12.5s I want to keep on factory fx4 rims but all the tire companies say minimum rim width is like 8.5 and the fx4 rims are 7.5. Is that more of a guildline or is a wider rim necessary? I will have wheel spacers if that matters

I think the rim width is the minimum size wheel the tire will seat too. If its not that wide the bead won't seat to the rim and it won't hold air

It will seal fine and it will hold air... It's more of a safety recommendation than anything else... Just so they can cover there own ***. When I was 17 I ran 35x12.50 on 7" wide stock rims for 3 years and never once had a problem... I used to air down in sand and back up on the roads and never once had a problem at all... Just my personal experience though...

Dude I know running 40-14.50-16's on a 7" wide factory Chevy steel wheel. And yes. That's a truck on 40's with torsion bar crank and 3" body lift lol
