Default rim bolt pattern

I've got a 1999 F150 XLT, I've seen a couple things online saying the bolt pattern is 5x135 but then I see other websites saying the bolt pattern is 5x5.5. Also, what is the deal with backspacing? I have a Rough Country 2.5 Leveling Kit right now and have 285/75/16's (Mickey Thompson Baja Classics) just with no rims yet. My current tires are 265/75/16.

It is 5x135. Backspacing is the distance from the inside bolt surface to the outer edge of the rim. You'll see 4-4.5" typically in aftermarket rims. That will push your tires outside of your fenders a fair amount for some stance.

With the tires out past the fenders, will that create for mud slinging all down the side of my truck worse?
