Okay so my dad has a 03 with a 4R70W and sometimes his reverse lights do not work. ( have to play with the shifter ) my mechanic's F350 ( 4R100 ) does the same along with my 1995 Flareside ( E40D ) they all have the same style of shifter.. My supercrew ( 4R70W ) does not do it ( I stop all the way and don't throw it into gear.. I know my dad and my mechanic do and the flareside I have no Idea I bought it last month and I am fixing it ) anyway I think the answer could kill 3 birds with 1 stone thanks in advance.

 

Just adjust the range sensor. You can look it up for the full procedure. It's on the side of the trans. From what I recall, loosen it up, put the truck in reverse first then turn the sensor until the reverse lights illuminate. That's how you adjust it when it gets thrown out of wack.
