I have a problem with my reverce drum in my 4r70w box. I see there is no friction disc there. They are there in all diagrams, but mine are not. Were there versions without shields? Or maybe they have worn out so much?

 

Do you have a picture of what you're talking about? The drum has 4 frictions.... I have a feeling you're either looking at the wrong thing, or they're all the way burnt and you're just seeing the steel left behind.

You have frictions there. They're stuck/welded to the steels. Steels are smooth on the inner circle. Where the yellow is... that's the inner part of a friction. The red circle is a steel.
