Default Resetting Computer

'98 f150 4.6L v8 4x4
I was putting in a remote starter in the truck and aparently I must have messed something up in the process. I was in the middle of figuring out which door lock and unlock wires were (i was looking at a wire diagram). So I wasn't touching anything when all of a sudden the truck cranked for about 2 secs and quit. I went to start the truck and it'll crank but it wont start. I removed what I had done with the remote stater, tried again and the same. Long story short I need to reset the computer. After finding out myself and reading around the forum I can't just unplug the battery. My question is can I use a scanner from like NAPA or Checker to reset the computer or do I need to bring it to a dealer and have them do it ?

What you are talking about is a reflash that the dealer has to do. From what you have described I would bet you blew a fuse.

well the good news is it was just a fuse. I thought to check the fuel pump fuse but it wasn't until Torkum mention it being a fuse that I thought to check the computer(PCM) fuse and that was it.
