replacing ball joints and upper control arms

so a buddy of mine fail inspection because of the ball joints and UCA (not sure why that wouldnt pass unless it was bent/cracked). Any good writeups on this? anyone have good tips?

the upper control arm and ball joint are basically one piece... i`ve heard of guys pressing them out but i`ve just always replaced the a arm with a moog set up
