Replace starter radio now inop
Hey. Having a bad holiday weekend any help would b appreciated. Started off xmas eve starter went out . Order a motorcraft starter and wasn’t able to get it until the 26th. Put it in today 27th. Not the funnest thing I have done but it was a treat getting the top bolts out. Luckily I have a gem for central Illinois and being here it’s whole life everything is not quite as rusty as the other 99% in the area. Anyways. After new starter was put in now the radio does not work. I do have an alpine radio and sub. I have not had an issue with either of those until install of starter. Truck runs great starts as it should. Only issue I have is with radio not turning and sub with interference. All other electronics work. All connections to starter looked great no corrosion.
Hi Mckean, and welcome to the forum. I'm not an expert, but I have done simple automotive tasks for over 50 years. For starters, it might help if you identified the year of your truck, along with which engine it has and the mileage. Someone with the same engine might have replaced their own starter and had similar problems afterward. The only things that strike me as possibilities are fuses and wiring. Is it possible that you inadvertently twisted a wire in a way that broke it inside, leaving it looking intact from the outside? I would check all wires near where you had to replace the starter. Also check the fuses for the radio and sub.
All that said, your rig looks absolutely spotless. If only all rust belt trucks looked as good.

So it has power ? How do you know the sub has interference?
The battery and vehicles main grounding , - engine, frame, body is messed with installing a starter.
First, check for a direct stereo connect for the stereo to the battery hasn't been installed in the past. If one has, make sure it was reconnected.
Other than that, check the fuses as suggested above. Could of been shorted during the starter install.

I’m not sure what had happened but it’s fixed. Got mad and let it sit overnight. Accidentally left key on the truck. Went back next day and it was completely dead. Put a charger on truck. Came back half hour later. Unplugged radio plugged it back in and now everything works fine. Not sure if gem needed reset or what. This was 2000 with the 5.4
