Default Replace rear caliper bracket

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has replaced their rear caliper brackets? Does it require you to take off the hub and wheel bearings in order to replace them? It seems like the brackets are attached in a non-intuitive way and it's not clear to me what needs to happen in order to replace them. It looks like you need to attach these to the brake backing plate and in order to replace those it does seem like you'd need to remove the whole hub assembly. Anyone gone through this before and can attest to the process?

Thanks,
Chris G.

You are right, you have to pull the axle shaft out.

Thanks, bummer. Might as well change the axle seal and bearings while I'm at it then I suppose?

Since you are going to be at them already I definitely would.

Yup, had to replace my passanger side a while back. Pretty easy to do.

Took me an afternoon to do it, but I did not replace the seal and bearings. Why not, just because.

And the reason I changed mine:

This is what happens when you don't use the shims on brake pads (I got the truck like this)

And if you are looking for one, the 8.8 and 9.75 axles use the same part.
I pulled mine off an 8.8 from an Expedition. Only issue with it was the hole to bolt on the parking brake bracket (or the brake fluid line, I don't really remember which one) was not threaded. I just cheated and used an impact to drive a new bolt in and it worked.

I have one off the drivers side if you can't find one, just PM me and we can work something out.
