Default Repaint Recommendations

Finally, I'm getting my Black '98 SCab prepped and sanded for a paint job. The clearcoat went in about 20 places, mainly the roof (the hood is the only thing perfect from original - go figure). So, for those who had to repaint their trucks, what did YOU choose:

Base coat with clearcoat....
OR
Urethane paint with built-in clearcoat?

Truck sits outside in the hot GA sun (when not being hit with rain).

I would choose base coat/ clear over single stage paint. What are you doing specifically for preparation?

Prep includes sanding down areas where existing clearcoat is worn, peeled, or beginning to go, then spray primed. Also includes sanding and priming of areas where paint is gouged or nicked. Body is intact with no dents or bruises.

Cool, are you block sanding it or DA sanding it? What is the progression of grits? Start with 150 go to 300 etc?

The reason I ask is I'm getting ready to repaint my roof which I think is kind of tricky with the channels it has.

There's a rubber strip in that channel that'll have to go. I'll let my body guy determine best way to go (I'll follow his lead - he preps classic muscle cars!). For me, roof had most clearcoat damage. Since this is now my only vehicle, I'll have to wait until next week to do it.
