Default Rearend Help

hey im tryin to put a rearend out of an 04 F-150 into my 98 F-150. Has anyone done this that could give me some ideas on what to do. Im only doing this cause my buddys work got that 04 and its a total so they are letting me take parts off of it, i blew the rearend out of my truck so thats the only reason for the swap, any help would be great. thanks

Conventionally this won't work... If ya really want it to? I really hope ya know what you're doin, and have a bottle of asprin handy for the headaches, a welder, cuttin torches etc and the knowledge and experience to know how ta use em... 04 has square U-bolts you got round, over under difference, is the gearing the same (4x4/front gears) ? 04's lug pattern is 6X135? yours is 5X135, you throwin the 04 wheels on the back orrrrrr guttin the rearend and swappin axles?, shock mounts are way on the outside in the 04's... are the leaf plates in the same spot on the axle... Dude go to the junkyard

weren't some 04's the same style as 97-03? kind of like a 2003 1/2?

i guess i have some work lined out for me...im not to worried about the shocks i can cut the mounting points of my rearend in my truck now and weld them onto the new rearend...i dont think the u-bolts should be a big deal since im swaping everything over, i was planning on keeping the 6X135 so i could have the disc brakes, i can change hubs up front to fit the new bolt pattern and take it in and have the gears changed out up front if they aren't the same...ill have to check the leaf springs out and see about those thanks for pointing that out...it sounds like i have a real headache coming with this project

Yeah is this a heritage model?? I figured he's askin cuz the trucks are the different body style, but then again I'm not sure if they changed anything on the rearend in the heritage. If it's different personally I'd go to the junkyard
