Default Rear Shocks

Hi All,

Just received my shocks I ordered from Rockauto (easier to use them since I'm in the UK...) but it looks like the rears I bought only come with some of the fittings...

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=342&jsn=342

Bottom of the shock is fine, & it has the cup & lower rubber bush fitted to the top but they don't come with the upper bush, upper round disk or the nut...

I know that hopefully I can re-use the bush & disk from the top of the old one but what size is the nut?
just in case we have to get the angle grinder out & it wont come off the one we remove

Cheers
Adrian.

I thought they would too but I've opened both boxes for the rears and neither have the extra bits and they are not shown in the online picture either...

The nut is more than likely a 1/2

I'm not sure why I held onto this stuff, but I did. The bushings were in use for a little over two years, if I recall correctly. You're welcome to any of it that might help if you have trouble finding it over there. The nuts are 3/8" coarse thread.

Thanks for the help Guys,

I've just looked and we have a small place here near me who stocks all types of fasteners etc so I think I'll pop down to see them one day this week and see if they have something that will fit.

But I might take you up on that Ohio if they don't have anything

The bushings in the picture are very hard to find on the shelf or sold separately. I never could, I attempted to periodically over the years. But those are the good ones. Other than that, only other sets I liked as they are beefy came from Fox.

3rd party shops carry some...usually not many. Just the cheap Energy suspension stuff normally. All too small.

They're may be more offered though. I changed my set-up and don't go through bushing sets anymore. It's been about 5 years since I went after replacement sets. So you may get lucky.

I did my shocks last year and those top nuts on the rear shocks can be a real pain to get at. Don't think you'll be able to fit an angle grinder up there without the frame interfering. Took me a reciprocating saw with a long blade to reach it and then there was a good 20-30 minutes cutting time involved.

I have about 15 boxes of new Motorcraft shock bushings and hardware. Let me know if you need me to see if I've got something that'll work.

You could also switch to poly bushings if you needed. Most part stores carry them. I suggest getting graphite impregnated if you do.... they are far less noisy.

Quick small update,

Took one of the shocks to the fasteners place earlier this week and it turns out it's an M10 thread...

The nuts were so cheap I got 6 std ones & 6 nyloc ones for less than $1...

Hopefully things will be fitted over the weekend if it warms up a bit... lol
