rear shock problem
2001 super crew off road with old 4" Trailmaster suspension lift. The rear shocks are Trailmasters and one of them is loose (wiggles around in the upper mounting hole). The truck also sits higher in the front. Could this be because of the shocks?
thanks
thanks
Is the rear also a lift kit? and is this something you just noticed (i.e. the rear sitting lower). I would definitely get the rear shock fixed right away. You may be able to simply tighten the nut on top of the hardware to securely fasten the shock to the frame of your truck.

ok thanks, i will tighten the nut and go from there. The rear setup has old trailmaster shocks, a shackle, an add a leaf and stock blocks. How can i determine if the leafs are bad? FWIW the truck doesnt ride bad at all, its just lower than the front...
inspected the leafs.... no cracks. maybe the leafs are sagging cause the shocks are so old and the leafs are taking most of the weight? Either way, if i get new shocks it wont raise the rear. Do i need a new leaf set or just a new "add a leaf"? I bought the truck like this a couple months ago.
The shocks do not do anything other than dampen the movement of your truck frame from the action of the springs. They do not hold any weight other than slow down movements when you go over bumps in the road.
I cannot be certain but based upon what you have said, the back may be lower only because of the lift kit you have on the front. You might just measure the height of your truck on both sides. It is likely that if the springs have been weakened and are not holding up your truck, both sides will be weakened by different amounts. I don't have much experience in modifying outside of OEM so I can't give advice about adding leafs to your springs. If it were my truck, I would most likely take out the front lift and put the truck back to stock. I am just old fashion that way and I realize that many guys prefer the look of a high lift truck. You should do what is best for you. Perhaps the guys who make a lift for the front also make one for the back.

I have to figure out what i have to do to the rear to bring it up a little bit...
Any suggestions would be appreciated because Trailmaster does not make parts for this suspension lift anymore.
