Default Rear ended

Hello all

a few days ago I was rear ended on the interstate and was wondering what the outcome of the insurance claim regarding the damage.
the rear bumper and tow hitch took the impact but I then noticed that the nice straight body lines were not to straight between cab and bed.

I haven’t taken it to a repair shop yet and was wondering what you think might happen?

I appreciate any and all opinions , thank you.

Normally they send out a claims adjuster to assess the damage and determine the repair costs. It doesn't hurt to take it to a shop and get a second estimate before hand. Then you can point out any differences if the claims adjuster's numbers are lower.

If the repair costs exceed the value of the vehicle, the insurance company will consider it totalled and pay the value of the vehicle.

I’d imagine straightening that rear frame will be an easy totaling out.

Looks like time for an upgrade,

If it's just the box that shifted then a replacement would work. But if it's the frame 65% chance due to age it will be written off.

20-25 -year-old truck....... Probably totaled.
I was hit from behind at a stoplight some years ago pretty hard..... Only had to replace my rear bumper tailgate and trailer hitch. The trailer hitch receiver hit their front bumper and transferred the brunt of the hit directly to the frame.... Their front grill hit my tailgate and dented it in slightly.. the bumper moved in a little bit but not enough to actually contact the bed body, it bent the bumper mounts

mine was totaled last month for a frame horn being bent that could easily be bent back. I would expect any sort of frame damage will push you more likely totaled than not.
