Default Rear end squeaking, need help.

Somewhere towards the rear of my truck its making a very high pitch squeaking sound. Almost sounds like a mouse is being tortured under the back of my truck. I can't figure out where its coming from, its getting on my nerves. Anybody else ran into this problem? I'm almost certain its not my leafs, I can't tell if its the brakes or what. Anybody else ran into this? What did you do to prevent it?

My leaf spring bushing squeaked. It drove me nuts.. I though the same. WD40'd everything cleaned/adjusted the rear drums and the squeak was still there. Ended up being shackles an leaf spring bushings.

Yeah I sprayed down the the shackles the best I could last night with wd 40. Now the squeaks worse, just driving it squeaks constantly. I'm definitely thinking it's my rear shackle on the passenger side. What did you use to stop it? Thank you for taking the time to respond btw.

Mine was doing the same thing after dunking it in the flood waters. Turns out it was my bushings in my leaf springs. I sprayed them down with liquid wrench lubricating oil (not penetrating) and this morning when I got in there was no more squeak.

Mine did that when the spring pads wore out. Dealership use to sell them for 2 bucks a piece. I say use to because they didn't have them second time I needed some. I ended up making them. Using Ford push pins and a an old truck mud flap.

That was the springs themselves making the squeak tho, - it was irritating as hell, that's what prompted me to fix it lol. I might have some pics of those.

I found it! Me and a friend after work went out and jumped on the back of my truck, crawled under the truck, and finally realized what it was... The tailgate. Ending up using almost a whole can of wd40 on that sucker. Im sure it was over kill, but no more squeak. Thank you for all the suggestions and replies. I'll definitely keep all this information in my back pocket incase I need it for the future.

Replace all the bushings or it'll come back

What was squeaking, the cup at the hinge point ? Use moly grease (it's for plastics). You have to rub it into the part.

EDIT: It's probably noisy at the latch mechanism come to think of it. You can use dry lube there but that won't last either. If that is indeed squeaking, you need to adjust it so it's tight...they are adjustable.

Also, if your missing your little L bushings (one on each side) that keep pressure on the gate, it would be more likley to rattle vs squeak. Iduno, that could contribute to a squeak I guess.
