Default rear end gears

how do I tell if the ptevious owner put different gears in before I purchased the truck

I can think of only one way to tell without tearing anything apart .... (assuming the truck has correct stock tires and wheels) do a simple speedo check over a measured mile and see if its correct or not. If its off, there's a rat in the wood pile somewhere!!! LOL!!

Put a mark on the driveshaft and have someone stand along side the truck while you slowly roll forward and count the number of revolutions the driveshaft makes when the wheel makes one revolution.

Why couldn't you just ask them? That seems like a selling point if anything, nothing to really lie about

crawz where do I mark on the drive shaft and I have 285 70 17 on it it came with 315 70 17.
almighty I got it at a dealership it was a one week trade in then I got the dealership did not know I asked

not exactly. how would that tell if it is sto k rear end. also on top of knowing this my clutch packs are bad on it too

Look up the RPO codes that the truck came with. That will tell you the original gears it came with. Don't know where they are in a ford, maybe the glovebox.

the sto k fears gor my tru k were 3.55. I am just wondering if sibce it xane with suxh a big tire size over factory that it could be different size gears. I beed to fi d out so I kbow which clutch paxk to buy. or if it has done damage then I get sro k gears
