Hello guys I have recently replace my rear end hogs head from a 3.55 to a 3.73. I got a used one out of a junk yard. I have a 2000 f150 5.4 2wd with the 9.75 ring gear. I have already got the preload set according to specs and with a new crush sleeve. Now I am just trying to get the backlash and end play for the ring gear and carrier bearings. I used the bearings and races and spacers from the rear end gears I got in the junk yard so everything is matched up. I also made sure the caps were put on the right sides as I marked them. Can anyone help me with this as the manual does not give this info. Also is there a need to paint the gears to check for meshing as the pinion and ring gear were already paired up in a rear end? Any help would be apprieciated. Thanks
