Default Rear Bumper Question

Will a rear bumper from a '81 F-150 fit a '02 F-150?

Light hearted reply for a Friday. :-)

I do not know as I've never tried it but I would suspect that they would require modification if you wanted them to fit.

I'm kind of curious as to why you're wondering? Bumpers can't be that hard to come by, can they?

The one on the truck I just bought is bent and I was just looking around on Craigslist. Came across a nice one for $50 but it was from an '81.

Still looking...

Is the bumper bent or is the mounting bracket bent? You can straighten those back out to get it to sit right sometimes

Yes it's definitely bent on the right side but the bumper looks twisted as well. I'll have to take it off to be certain though.

Straightening a bumper can be next to an impossible task due to the springiness of the metal. My dad and I were up at our hunting spot and crossing a bank to get across a stream we bent the left side of mine pretty bad.

What we did was put a jack under it and move into ace and then some several times. And that helped slightly.

We then cranked the jack up to get the bumper where it needed to be and went under the truck and welded a brace from the bottom of the bumper up to a support. This holds the bumper in place. And although it is a ghetto repair it works and you would not know from the top side of. The truck that any damage had occurred

Yeah, I thought about using a jack under it. The bracket is pushed in pretty good. Maybe I can get it a little straighter. Thanks
