Default Rear axle

Anyone have a 7700 series? I have an 02 and need to replace the rear axle housing gasket. How many ozs of fluid does it hold amd what weight? Any brands to stay away from or preferred? Thanks in advance

As in the gasket for the diff cover? You have a 10.25" so try to give it a google and see what pops. Those are a rare breed indeed.

Use 75-140 out back and anything will do as long as you get the ford friction modifier from your local dealer.

You only need friction modifier if you have a limited slip.

The 10.25 requires 3.1 L of 75w-140 synthetic gear oil, and if you have limited slip, 8 oz of friction modifer.
This is all per the owners manual which is easily found online.

Three quarts plus the friction fluid will fill it. I don't use gaskets anymore on diff. covers. Clean it thoroughly (both surfaces) and use Permatex Ultra Black RTV silicone sealant. It will not leak. Put down a bead about 1/8" dia. right down the center of the cover flange and encircle the bolt holes. When you put it back on, the trick is to put two opposing bolts through the cover and get it straight into place without smearing it around. Come to think of it, a couple pencils might make good alignment pins.

P.S. You're gonna pucker when you see what that 75-140 synthetic costs. Any recognized name brand is fine.
