Default Radio volume

My factory am/fm radio in my 1997 f 15o extra cab 4x4 has very little volume when first started every day. After 30 minutes or so the volume is capable of going much higher, but initially it is very low even turned all the way up.For the rest of the day it works fine. Also the on/off button will not turn the radio off, so I just turn it all the way down when I dont want it. Ideas?

Sounds like you've got a cold truck when you first start, huh? I wonder if the radio is just old and going, so it needs to warm up to work effectively.

I just replaced the factory unit in my 97 Scab 4x4. It had the same issues. I wanted an excuse to upgrade to a DVD/Bluetooth unit anyway, so I didnt question it too much, but odds are that some of the solder connections on the radio circuit board are starting to fail. Good excuse as any for an aftermarket upgrade........

Agree with above. It's old. Why not go ahead and get a nice one or even a cheap $80 Bluetooth one.
