Default Radio issue

My stock radio/cd player in my 2000 keeps flashing "bad disc" on the display. Even when the truck is turned off it keeps flashing the message every 15 seconds or so. Any fix for this? And, could there be any way the radio could be drawing down my battery with this going on? Truck wouldnt start this am. Dead battery. Coincidence?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset the radio?

Is there a disk in there? See if you can eject it if so. Also, there is a timer that allows use of some interior functions (window, radio, etc) for a set amount of time after the key is turned off and before a door is opened. I bet it stops flashing when a door is opened.

Burnt disks don't agree with factory ford radios for some reason. They don't like to play and a lot of times they don't like to come back out. If it's not a burnt disk in there you need a radio, they often go bad over time. Factory radios aren't cheap, I'd get an aftermarket head unit if I were you.

X2, Then you can get one with an IPOD interface and quit using disks.

Pulled radio out and checked to see if a disc was stuck in it. Nothing. I reinstalled the radio and it still flashed "bad disc". If I turn radio off before I turn truck off, it quits flashing the message. If not, it flashes message continuously whether the door is opened or not. I agree. Time for new radio!
