im new here and i have one quick question. i have a 2001 v6 and i changed the fuel pump and when i took the tank down and tryed to get the rubber hose off the plastic vent it broke it and now i get a gas cap loose or off code. what is th plastic pice in the tank for and whats it called. thanks

 

Its the hose that goes to the EVAP system. The gas tank fumes are sent to a canister that is designed to lower the emission that are released into the atmosphere. Until you fix the hose it will continue to set the code.
