Default Question about which coolant to use

Hey guys, newbie here. Recently came into an 02 f150 xl with the 4.2v6 and 177k miles. I just fixed a coolant leak and plan on flushing the system.

Someone recommended to use the motorcraft gold coolant which I plan on doing. However, currently the coolant is a blue/green. From what I understand the chemical makeup of the motorcraft gold stuff is different than the green or blue stuff. Is it gonna be an issue to put motorcraft gold in after flushing the system? I imagine the coolant wont ever be completely flushed so I just want to know if I'm asking for trouble here mixing the two coolants?

Also, do yall recommend using the motorcraft coolant flush on a high mileage truck like this? I don't want to create any more leaks and heard using the flush on something high mileage can bring out leaks.

Thanks!

I use Valvoline Max Life in mine. It's universal, and will work in anything.

I ran the cheap Super Tech 50/50 premix in my 99 5.4 when I changed the water pump, radiator, hoses, etc. Ran it two more years until trading it in with no issues. I get the impression these trucks aren't very particular about their coolant.

I agree. I don't think there is a nickles worth of difference in most brands. The main objective is to make sure your cooling system is clean with clean coolant.

Right.

I am a bit OCD on some things for my vehicles i.e. using certain brands exclusively. I really like Valvoline oils, so I bought their anti-freeze as well. I mostly only use Chevron fuel as well. Maybe it's in my head, but my vehicles seem to run a little better using these two.
