Question..
I have a 2001 F-150 supercrew with the 5.4, 4 wheel drive and tow package. I have tried to break my wheels free on dry pavement with only application of throttle, and it doesn't happen unless the pavement is wet or I am on a loose surface. I didn't know if this was normal or not. I have a buddy that has the exact same truck I do except he does not have the tow package, and he can lay wheel all day by mashing the throttle. Is that one of the benefits of the tow package? Anybody else have any input on the subject?
I have the same truck also but its not 4x4. I can't break my tires loose either. I think its the differential. I have limited slip differential which is when power is sent to the wheel if the wheels start to break loose the limited slip kicks in and directs power to both wheels equally which causes the truck to gain traction. This was an option on these trucks for towing purposes. But gaining traction is not a bad thing.
