1997 F150. 4wd not working for several weeks now. Suddenly, the truck has started engaging itself in 4wd low range while traveling at hwy speed. Also, the O/D light begins flashing in what looks like a code.
Local mechanic cannot detect why this happens. Instead, he has unplugged the 4wd actuator for now.
Anybody ever hear of this ?

If the overdrive light is flashing, then there is possibly something wrong with your transmission. Take it to a shop that has the ability to read the Ford transmission codes, not everybody can. The code(s) will tell you what is wrong with the transmission.
