Any real off roading pre runner style needs to have a full independent suspension or a coil/airbag set up in the rear. If you were doing low speed off road, then live axles front and rear are the best way to go.

you mean 4 link right? I've never seen a prerunner with independent rear. They all run solid axle with long arm 4 links.

I've seen a few IRS setups on toyotas. I know of one guy who recent dropped the cash to convert over to IRS in his Ford. My god father used to race out at Bonneville and he was always doing weird things to trucks he'd take out to the flats with him when he'd race the dragster. I think he had a fully independent yota for a bit too. Where I am, I don't see many pre runners mainly because diesels are king. Every now and then I'll see a double triangulated 4 link on the trail with airbags in place of the coils but never seen any half's with coil sprung rears other than the newer 5 link's on the Dodges.

Blocks work but there not the right way of building an off road vehicle. I'd go with a bigger leaf pack or shackles before putting blocks on my truck.

Ever heard of Ivan "the iron man" Stewart, his Toyota that he won multiple baja races with had/has independent rear suspension.

Ok 1...don't know of anyone else. I've done work on at least 15 trophy trucks and 20+pro2's and pro4's and countless prolites not one has independent rear. The transaxle is the weak link....that's why nobody else runs it. His truck was also WAAAAAY lighter, he had considerably less power and smaller tires. That's the only way it'll last through any kind of desert race.

And i agree...blocks are not the way to go for anything serious. It leads to axle bind coupled with soft springs.

HAHA! Yeah ok so there are a few....but to be honest i was really referring to performers. Those don't really make it through the race so i don't really count them. It's not the best design because it's weaker. In that world you need the strongest of the strong. I wonder why Ickler's selling his brand new truck? Maybe gettin a front engine? lol And those always makes me think of class 1 with a truck body.

I can tell you all the worlds top Trophy truck drivers would NEVER drive one of those if they wanted to win!! All the guys that i've done their stuff like BJ baldwin, Rob Mac, Bryce Menzies, Herbst family, Collins, etc.....they all drive front engine/solid axle setups cause they're tougher.

Is that your truck? What suspension is that? Looks GOOD!!

Looks like a Dirt-Tech or Richer Racing...since they have almost identical designs.
