"Driveline Critical Speed"That is good stuff ! It really is. And I have experienced a driveshaft self destructing during a sand drag comp. So now I know some of the physics / cause.
I was asking if anyone knows the top speed design point for our trucks.
I'm sure it is higher than the 108 mph on MY speed limiter. And it may differ by model (I'm sure it does.)
I can tell you that a SCAB 4x4 with a factory steel driveshaft will blow it apart in 3rd gear at 4800 RPM. Which depending on you tire size and rear gear ratio will change the CDS. I had 4.10's and 33's when it blew the yoke off. 90% of the time the u joints will be the first thing to fail.
Id go out on a limb and say the factory speed limiter is around a 80%-85% of the maximum before failure occurs.

Well, I'm sure everyone is going to run off and trade their truck for a "Stang".

I had a '67 Mustang and I raced it on street and strip, legal and otherwise. I've had 5 F series and have put 4 of them in the sand and mud, street & strip, 4wd pulls, off road track, ALL were fun and all were fast.
