I have a 2001 ford f150 supercrew and my sons lost my keys. If I buy a new key off Internet or dealer can I program it myself? I know I can on the key fob but I dont know about the key.

 

You need two Original keys to program any more after that... For our trucks you can only have a total of 7 programed the same. If you don't have the orig. two, you may need to call a locksmith. I keep my two orig in a safe and only have copy for wife parents just in case...

 

Thanks. Yea I don't have any keys now. Locksmith wants double what the ford dealer is asking. I called four of them

Try a couple of body shops and ask if they have a recommendation. I got a lead from a body shop and a hippy hold over guy showed up in a van that still smelled like Woodstock. He charged me $40 to program an old key that was programmable. It would have been another $10 if would have needed to supply a new key. I think the dealer wanted $125.
