Problem with Pinion Seal Replacement - lots of play
Hey fellas, searched for some forums on here but couldn't find my same problem with a rear pinion seal replacement. Have a 99 f150 xlt Supercab and replaced my pinion seal per the countless videos on here to the T. I used the same pinion nut and a new seal from Oreilly auto part # 3604 Masterpro bearing/seal.
I found it odd that i had a lot of play front to back after the pinion seal and driveshaft flange were installed to original spec. By a lot of play i mean maybe 1/4" front to back. It made me very very nervous as i thought that shouldn't have much play at all... can anyone give me feedback on this before i drive it? If there's more info needed please let me know and i'll try to fill in the gaps.
