Default Power window/ Lock problem. Please help

Hello all,

I love the site and its been very helpful. however I'm stumped now. 1998 ford f150 small V8 XLT auto 2wd. My passenger window will not go down. I've replaced the motor and still no luck. Also, using either the driver or passenger door my doors will only lock, not unlock.

Same with the window except it doesn't move using either switch.

Could someone please give me some direction on what to check next? Thanks

have you put direct current on the window motor to see if it works?

I just had to motor tested and they said it is working. So I'm not sure what else to check?

Also, Why would my locks only lock and not unlock using either door switch?

jrg05a,
I am having the same problem but with the drivers window. I push on the switch and you can hear the relay but no window movement. When i started having problems if the window went down it would always go up. Now it never goes down. I am also having the same problem with the door lock. It does not unlock the doors but always locks them. It seems that both problems started at the same time.

Hopefully someone will have an answer. It is a pain when paying for tolls.

Mike

Is there a fuse or something I should be checking? Is this a common thing?

Did you take the switch assembly apart and clean the contacts? That was one part of the problem for me. 2nd on the drivers door was the grease was caked up on the regulator "scissors" - and I've noticed that if ANY resistance is encountered, even if the relay works, the window will not budge, and it appears that the motor disengages to protect itself (no blown fuses, etc). So, clean the switch contacts (not just the connectors) and re-lube the scissors and edge window tracks. That worked for me!
