Default Possibly a starter issue?

It was occasionally not starting, only a click. Then would start for a while. Charged the battery, still happening at times. 12.57V off, 14.5V running, so alternator good. Had tested the starter solenoid on the firewall a while back was ok. Got stranded the other day. Tried hitting the starter and solenoid. Nothing. Tried to jump nothing. Replaced the starter solenoid anyways, nothing. Jumped it again, and it started. Got it home. Wouldn't start for a day. Went out today and got it started, and got it in the garage. Should I just go ahead and replace the starter? I never really heard the starter click or engage, but the starter solenoid on the firewall was clicking.

Try pulling / pushing on the shift lever, clockwise and counterclockwise without shifting while turning the key.
could be the neutral switch on the transmission.

When you tried hitting it, was someone in the cab attempting to crank ? Has to be done at the same time. That little trick works sometimes! lol

Rainy day here, so went and changed the starter. Seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.
