Question Possessed Windows!

My driver's-side power window has started going down on its own! Sometimes is goes all the way down; sometimes just part of the way. I can put it back up, but I cannot put it down unless it wants to be down. This may happen 15 times on the way to work (ten miles) or just twice. I'm guessing it's a bad switch, maybe? If so, how difficult is the fix? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

How hard is it to replace the switch? To give you an idea you probably wont even need tools... Just pop the plastic panel off which has all the switches using your hands and unplug the drivers one. Ideally you should unplug the battery, but who does that for window switches.... Not me!

Drive without the switch for a few miles and if the window stops going down then you know you have a bad switch.

That's def. not the ford approved method, but just keeping it simple.

I just took 8 doors apart last weekend. This is very easy to do. Lift on the front part of the panel (towards dash) first. They pop right up. Push on side tabs to release connection.

On a side note, my wipers will wipe on their own about once or twice a week. Or was there a full moon?

I know someone who had a similar strange case, he took it back to the dealer to have it fixed. When he got there, the dealer wasn't surprised. Apparently this windows unrolling by themselves isn't unheard of. It had to do with some module controlling the power locks and windows. Anyhow, they fixed it and said they had reset the window motor and cleaned out the window runs. The reset didn't work though, they had to get him a new motor. In any case, I hope you get your window fixed.

Wow, great idea! I don't think I would have thought to do that on my own! I would have just replaced it and then discovered the cause. Thanks, sincerely!
