Default Popping in 4x4?

So when I put my truck in 4x4, it goes fine. And it will drive straight without a problem. But when I turn te wheel I hear a horrible popping sound? Could it be the auto locking hubs? Please help, I want my 4x4 back ;(

But if I just got the spacers would it stop the popping? I understand I'll need new cv's at some point. But this is only a high school truck. So they only need to last another year and a half-2years.
