I have a 2003 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4. The a/c in the truck has the auto feature whatever that is. My problem is the only setting I can get cold air to blow out of the main vents is PNL FLR. If I cut it on auto, or Max AC it blows out of the dash vents like it's on defrost. This is very aggravating. Can anyone suggest a quick fix or am I in for major surgery to fix this? Thanks very much.

 

sorry i dont have a fix for this issue, but i wanted to say that mine does the same thing you are describing. when my air controls are in auto mode, heating or cooling, the air blows through to defrost, but if i push the vent or ac button it comes out of the vents. none of the other options seem to work, which is very irritation in the winter when your feet are freezing and your face is sweating. i think it just might the vent selector motor or the blower controls need to be replaced.

You probably have this resolved, but i just joined and was looking around in here for fun.
I have an o3 lariat s/crew that had almost the same issue. I swapped out my climate control panel for about $200. No problems since.

 

Forgive me for being dumb. What exactly is the climate control panel?

 

On my dash below my c/d and tape deck player is a seperate climate control panel that has a blue and a red button in the upper left corner.
on the right top it has two buttons, "ext" and a button showing a defrost symbol. accross the bottom are the buttons "max a/c", "vent", "pnl/flr" , "floor" , "flr/def" and "defrost".

I took that panel out and repalced it.
