Default please answer!

hey guys i am looking at an 02 f150 near me with 99k miles. its an fx4 and they want 8900 for it. im wondering a few things: what should i look for in terms of problems, how can i make sure the 4x4 works during a test drive even if im not going off road(ive heard using 4wd on pavement is terrible for the truck) and also is 8900 a good price for it? thanks a bunch guys

Price sounds alright for around here the way Ive tested 4x4 is put it in 4x4 crank the wheel and give it a little gas if it's engaged it'll hop don't do that allot though it's not very good on it for common problems look around the rear window for leaks if it has the slider window exhaust manifold leaks too and if you can see in the valley check for coolant from a manifold leak some of the plastic ones will warp or crack and leak and if something doesn't seem right don't ignore it just because you want the truck I did that and ended up with a junk motor I'm sure other people will chime in

Check all switches, locks, windows, ac heat fan, wipers etc. Check doors and cab for rust and check fluids. Good luck!!

I paid 8400 for my 02 fx4 with 117k.

Price sounds fair.

Make sure its in top shape though otherwise hes gonna steal your money. Talk about rust, im sure it has some, and try to get some money knocked off the price. If it ticks when accelerating thats a sign of an exhaust leak and broken exhaust manifold studs. Good luck.

make sure you check all the fluids, have the suspension checked ball joints tie rods etc, sounds like a fair price though if it is in great shape
