Default Pinging in cold weather?

EDIT: Problem solved. I left a hose to air duct unconnected. I got myself into lean fuel condition.

My 97 V6 just started pinging in normal acceleration to 40-50 mph. I found a pattern. Only in the morning last few days when temperature dipped to freezing here in Florida. Afternoon driving was find. I searched this forum and found cold weather is a cause.

Several members explained well why cold weather causes pinging. What I would like to ask is if V6 pinging in winter is common. Do most of V6 owners experience the same in winter? Is winter to blame or does my V6 have an issue? If former, I can buy high octane during the short winter weeks. If latter, I will have to check EGR, vacuum leak, fuel trim, etc. What is your advice?

Thank you.
