Default Pinging...

Did a search for my 01 Screw with a 5.4 and came up with some good ideas on why my truck pings on the highway: carbon buid up on the intake valves/intake, cat clogged, timing issue, running lean, defective knock sensor, and a clogged/jammed PCV valve.

A trip today of about 325 miles came with pinging and worse MPG than usual trying premium 93 octane gas.

The truck has 130k miles on it. Just had the injector cleaning, oil changed, air filter, trans fluid and rear end dope changed at 125k. Plugs and gas filter changed at 105k.

Anybody got an idea where best to start to eliminate the pinging?

Nobody has any ideas?

Where is the knock sensor? Is it easy to replace? Cost?

Is timing or fuel adustable? If so, how?

Is there a way to do an injection cleaning as a DIY project? Is there any way to de-carbon the valves, pistons and cylinders? We used to pour a little water down the carb to remove carbon. I don't see that working now...
