Have 2003 Ford Expedition, 5.4 L engine.

I had this prior to my big repair.

I took these parts off of my shift lever assembly. Should not have but did.

When I put them together this is what it looks like. Yes, I can get the place black wedge into the slot and basically cover the spring.

Picture 4 – Black Outer Electrical Cover


Does anyone know how to firmly secure the outer electrical cover (in picture four) over the black plastic wedge with the spring in it (in picture three) onto the assembly plate? I tried every way I could, but it slips off easily. The black cover does not ‘snap” into place.

Anyone have any ideas?
