Default performance trans

Getting a rebuilt transmission from Goodfellas and they have 3 levels to choose. Im putting 35s on my truck and do alot of muddin. My engine is stock and I figured I'd be good with the 1st level trans because its supposed to be able to handle 400 hp, 400 ft. torc. I called them and they said I should go with the second level because of the bigger tires. Wouldnt putting lower gears make up for the bigger tires? Isnt that the idea? Any advice would be appreciated. I have an 02 fx4 with 4r70 trans, and 5.4l engine.

there is no such thing as "lower gears" in the transmission. the lower gears go in the rear end. furthermore, there shouldnt be stages to transmission builds, you arent making near enough power for them to tell you that a "level 2" is needed. Also, you already have most of the hard parts and the updated valvebody that you will be buying, why do you need to spend 1500 on a transmission?

if you insist on getting a new trans talk to Darrin on F150online or dirtyd0g....

Thats what I was talking about, lower gears in the rear end. I was trying to make it kinda short. Didnt wana make a novel out of it. And the reason im getting a new trans is because I've got a huge hole in mine that goes from the bell housing down to the pan. Luckily it stops there and doesnt leak. It worries me so Im always taking it easy scared Im gonna finish breaking it. The reason Im goin with Goodfellas is they dont have a core charge. Alot of trans places charge you like an additional 500 that you get back when they get your core and I figured They probally wont give me anything with my trans having a hole big enough to put a baseball in. And the 3 stages are different parts they put in there. I dont know whats what but the 1st level has alot of **** and Its 900 for the trans or 1295 for trans, shipping, and a converter. 1 year warranty with thier converter so I was just gonna get that. And I was asking, wouldnt that be enough? Dont think I need to spend another 300 on some other stuff I dont really know about. Check out the website. goodfellastransmissions and click on the aod(blue one) and it will bring you to 4r70. You can see the parts they put into them and tell me what Im looking at if you know, cause thats a different language to me.
