I don't know your background with tuning so forgive me if it seems simplistic. There is only one real "chip" for these trucks (see link below). A chip cannot do what a tuner can do better. Gas takes a little more tuning to see results unlike a diesel. The PCM is not reprogrammed to a large extent and changes are minimal. This is why 99% of the time when people ask about chips on here they end up getting a tuner.

The market has moved away from chips. The hand held tuner allows you to adjust some of the parameters like tire size, axle ratio, shift points etc. You do not need to send the chip back for a costly retune if you get bigger tires. Any of the 3 that otto457 listed are highly respected tuners. They will sell you a system built for your truck according to your preferences. You fill in a form and they send you back a tuner that you plug in and change the PCM tune to the new tune.

im new to f150's, but ive had a 99 mustang gt for years now. anyone using the sniper software? i bought it for the stang and love it, plan to program the 97 f150 i just bought with it as well. very easy to use and lets you adjust for just about anything. unlike other tuners that only allow you to program one vehicle, you can tune multiple vehicles with sniper.
