Default Performance

Couple questions for you guys. First is i already have flowmaster 50 series on my truck and its a turn down been thinking about adding dual pipes out the back. Are their any advantages/disadvantages with turn downs vs pipes? Second question is im wanting to add a programmer whats a good one to go with? Looking for one that mounts on the dash and gives me temp readings and such. Thanks for any input.

well turndown vs. pipes, pipes will give you less in-cab noise while driving. neither really give any performance difference, it just makes the required sound a V8 should make. tuners like what you are looking for is easy. if you want off the shelf just lighty better than stock, go with edge. best display setup imo. But i'd highly encourage you to have a company like 5 star, troyer, or vmp write customs tunes. thats where best gain is.

custom tunes you can get the gryphon, which is still and edge display but with the custom tunes. or you can go with SCT tuning like from vmp, and they also make a display for the dash with custom tunes.

and since this is a performance question basically, a good air intake system (not just a drop in filter, whole thing) gives good gains and i got 2 mpg added with mine. real mpg gains figured with calculator at fillup. And imo the best bang for your buck basic mods is the electric fans conversion. huge throttle response gains and very noticeable bottom end gain.
